Being a great affiliate manager requires exceptional communication skills. You’d always have to be available for customers, advertisers, and, most importantly, your affiliates to establish good relationships with them. Such is the insight shared by Sami Kivi, one of our affiliate managers here at Partners.io.

In the six months Sami has been with us, his experience with the affiliates has helped him grow and become a more responsible manager.

To learn more about his managerial style, we sat down with Sami and asked him about his experience as an affiliate manager at Partners.io. Here’s what he shared with us:

  • How long have you been an affiliate manager?

‘I have been an affiliate manager for 6 months. During this time, I have learned a lot about the affiliate industry and have had the opportunity to work with some amazing affiliates who have helped me grow and develop as a manager.’

  • What’s the biggest commission payout you’ve made?

‘The biggest commission payout I have made was a little over 250’000 USDT.’

  • What are your core values as an affiliate manager?

‘As an affiliate manager, my core values are honesty, straightforwardness and treating others how I would like to be treated. I believe that building trust with my affiliates is crucial in maintaining long-lasting partnerships and creating a positive reputation for my company.

In my opinion, being honest and transparent with my affiliates about the opportunities and challenges of our partnership is the best way to build trust and create a mutually beneficial relationship.

I also value treating others how I would like to be treated. I believe that showing respect, empathy and kindness to my affiliates is not only the right thing to do, but it also helps build a positive and productive working relationship. This means being responsive to their needs and concerns and doing my best to ensure our partnership is a positive experience for everyone involved.’

  • Is it better to make affiliate deals in crypto? Why or why not?

‘I believe that once the initial setup process is complete, transferring money through cryptocurrency is easier than using fiat payments, and it offers faster and more secure transactions. Moreover, the trend towards cryptocurrency usage is increasing, and the market still has a lot of untapped potential.

I find the analogy between the history of landlines versus mobile phones and the current fiat versus crypto debate particularly interesting and relevant.

Mobile phones were once considered a luxury item that only a small percentage of people used. However, as technology improved and entrance barriers decreased, mobile phones became more accessible to a wider audience.

Despite some experts predicting that mobile phones would never catch on and would remain a niche product, more and more people began to adopt them as mobile phone networks expanded.

Today, mobile phones are an essential part of daily life for billions of people worldwide, and the rise of mobile phones has led to the development of other technologies that have further transformed the way we communicate, work and live.

The history of mobile phones highlights how a technology that was initially dismissed by some experts as a niche product can eventually become a self-explanatory part of modern life.’

  • What are you most looking forward to in the affiliate industry (could be events, changes, innovations, etc.)?

‘There are several exciting developments in the affiliate industry to look forward to. There is a growing focus on user experience, with companies investing in more intuitive and user-friendly interfaces to attract and retain customers.

Another area to watch is the increasing use of AI and machine learning, which can help optimise campaigns and personalise the user experience. Additionally, the ongoing growth of the cryptocurrency market presents many opportunities for affiliates, with the potential for new partnerships and innovative payment solutions.

Finally, attending affiliate conferences can be a great way to meet the people that you are working with in person, build new relationships and deepen existing ones. Whether you’re looking to make new connections, pitch a new product or service, or simply learn more about the latest trends and technologies in the industry, affiliate conferences offer a wealth of opportunities for both personal and professional growth.’

  • What’s your best tip for becoming a successful affiliate manager?

‘My best tip for becoming a successful affiliate manager is to always be available and communicate effectively with your affiliates. Building strong relationships with them is key to ensuring a successful partnership. This means being responsive to their needs and concerns, providing regular updates on performance and trends and offering support and guidance when needed.

Additionally, staying up to date with industry trends and developments is essential in being able to adapt and innovate in a constantly evolving market. This means keeping an eye on new technology, emerging markets and regulatory changes that could impact the affiliate industry.’

  • To start your day off in the right way, what’s the one thing you need (or you need to do)?

‘To kickstart my day, it’s one package of things. I need a healthy breakfast to fuel my body, a strong cup of coffee to fuel my brain, and some physical activity and exposure to natural light to get my blood flowing and energise me for the day ahead. Without these things, I feel like a grumpy bear emerging from hibernation.’

  • What’s your favourite movie and why?

‘My favourite movie is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I love the unique storytelling and the idea of living life in reverse, which pushes me to appreciate the present moment even more. The movie also explores the themes of love, loss, and the passing of time in a way that is both beautiful and thought-provoking.’
